BlackBerry to launch smartphone March 22 in U.S.

TORONTO -- BlackBerry will launch its new touchscreen smartphone in the U.S. with AT&T on March 22. The release will come several weeks after the company launched the much-delayed devices elsewhere.
AT&T said Monday that the Z10 will be available for $199.99 with a two-year contract. Sales of the device began in the U.K. and Canada shortly after the phone was unveiled in late January.
The redesigned BlackBerry is an attempt at a comeback. The pioneering brand, formerly known as Research In Motion, lost its cachet not long after Apple's 2007 release of the iPhone, which reset consumers' expectations for what a smartphone should do.
BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins told the Associated Press last month that the company would have to regain market share in the U.S. for BlackBerry to be successful.
